Charlotte Louise Bennett
Charlotte Louise Bennett is a columnist and content review specialist for EArebate.
She has been watching exchange rates and central banks for over a decade. Every day before the market opens, she goes through the schedule herself first—which data releases are coming, which central banks are speaking, which currency pairs are changing season—and then decides what we write that day. She breaks down interest rate decisions in the finest detail, and non-farm payrolls and inflation data are her old specialties. For the dollar index, euro, pound, and yen, her judgment usually arrives before the article does.
Charlotte has a habit when writing: when a number comes out, she first asks about the source, then the definition, and only last what it means. She doesn't quite trust phrases like "the market generally believes," and she's even less willing to just lay out a pile of data and call it done. She thinks an article is worth reading only if, after the reader closes the page, they are one bit less hesitant.
Before coming to us, she did macroeconomic and market reporting at financial media outlets and research institutions, covered many press conferences, and is well acquainted with brokers, analysts, and institutional traders. Over the years, she has come to care more about where information comes from and what it's good for, and doesn't chase hot topics much.
"Good market information doesn't tell you what to do; it lays out the variables clearly so you make one less wrong decision."
—This is something she often says, and it is also the basic standard of our column.
